Réalta Events Management is owned and run by Emma Miller; an experienced and enthusiastic event and project Manager. From November 2018, our team of consultants has increased to three, with Selina May Miller and Joanne Williams joining the Réalta family.
Emma Miller is a highly efficient event manager with excellent problem solving skills and extensive marketing and promotion experience. She is organised, resourceful and always willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best possible result in any situation.
Following graduation in 2000 with a BA honours degree in Law and Management, she worked with a homelessness charity in Aberdeen, arranging events and promotional activities to encourage donations of money, time and goods. This included planning and delivering the inaugural ‘Thomas Ball’ event which continued through to 2007. She also led the delivery of a second fundraising Ball event for a local children’s charity in Lerwick in 2013, raising over £5,000 in one evening.
Working as Marketing Officer with Shetland Amenity Trust between 2010 and 2017 enabled Emma to establish and deliver a number of key events, including Shetland Wool Week and Shetland Boat Week; playing a fundamental role in the creation of both festivals, which are now considered significant events in the Shetland calendar.
"Event management is my passion. I have always enjoyed it. It’s not just a job for me; it’s something I am genuinely enthusiastic about, and something that I aim to get 100% right. Every time."
In November 2017 Emma was appointed as Chair of the Shetland Tourism Association, and also as Project Manager for the Living Lerwick Business Improvement District from January 2018.
Selina May Miller (first cousin to Emma!) is a part time contractor who assists with the Living Lerwick contract when she's not enjoying her job at the Lerwick Library. Selina has a wide range of experience in various fields, and holds many roles including Secretary of both Shetland Tourism Association and Shetland Textile Museum where she also assists with their digital marketing.
After graduating with an honours degree in Festival and Event Studies with Entrepreneurship in 2014, Selina won the 'Most Inspiring Sudent' from Napier University, and Intern of the year from the Scottish Institute for Enterprise.
Joanne has a varied background, beginning her career studying nutrition, before going on to work in a multi-skilled role managing projects and events at a location which included retail outlets and a wedding venue.
In her most recent role, Joanne has worked with Taste of Shetland as Assistant Manager which has seen her assist in the co-ordination of a pop-up shop, large scale food and drink festival and ongoing support to a large and diverse membership base of Shetland food and drink producers.
