Réalta Events Management is owned and run by Emma Miller; an experienced and enthusiastic event and project Manager. Joanne Williams joined the Réalta family in November 2018 and we engage with other colleagues when required for client needs.

About Us

Emma Miller

Emma Miller is a highly efficient event manager with excellent problem solving skills and extensive marketing and promotion experience. She is organised, resourceful and always willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best possible result in any situation.

Following graduation in 2000 with a BA honours degree in Law and Management, she worked with a homelessness charity in Aberdeen, arranging events and promotional activities to encourage donations of money, time and goods.

Working as Marketing Officer with Shetland Amenity Trust between 2010 and 2017 enabled Emma to establish and deliver a number of key events, including Shetland Wool Week and Shetland Boat Week; playing a fundamental role in the creation of both festivals, the former now considered one of the most significant events in the Shetland calendar.

"Event management is my passion. I have always enjoyed it. It’s not just a job for me; it’s something I am genuinely enthusiastic about, and something that I aim to get 100% right. Every time."

In November 2017 Emma was appointed as Chair of the Shetland Tourism Association; a position she held for four years, supporting tourism businesses trhough the Covid Pandemic. From January 2018 Emma has held the role of Project Manager for the Living Lerwick Business Improvement District and since 2019 she has also been a Trustee of the Shetland Charitable Trust.

In 2023 Emma delivered the international Tall Ships Races event in Lerwick, following two years of planning and welcoming over 11,000 visitors per day to the event sites in Lerwick to engage with 37 visiting ships and around 2,000 crew members.

Joanne has a varied background, beginning her career studying nutrition, before going on to work in a multi-skilled role managing projects and events at a location which included retail outlets and a wedding venue.

Joanne also works with Taste of Shetland as Assistant Manager which has seen her assist in the co-ordination of a pop-up shop, large scale annual food and drink festival and ongoing support to a large and diverse membership base of Shetland food and drink producers.
