Today marks the one year to go milestone until the Tall Ships fleet sails into Lerwick harbour during the prestigious race event in summer 2022.
Realta Events Management owner, Emma Miller is the Project Manager for the event, which is the largest public event to be held in Shetland since the races were last in port, in 2011.
At an event at Shetland Museum and Archives today, the project team welcomed a range of people keen to sign up as volunteers, as well as representatives from several local businesses interested in providing goods and services at the event.
The local media were invited and a formal announcement made that SSE Renewables have been confirmed as an Admiral's Deck sponsor for the event - with great connections between their own wind power resources on the developing Viking Wind Farm and the wind powering the sailing ships of the fleet.
With one year to go, there are a number of key tasks ahead to deliver this event and Emma and the team are hard at work to ensure the third Tall Ships visit to Lerwick is the best one yet.
