Street Party for STV Children’s Appeal

Published on: Sep 1, 2018

STV weatherman, Sean Batty, was recently in Shetland for a fundraising campaign on behalf of the STV Children’s appeal. In my role as Project Manager for Living Lerwick, my colleague and I set up a street party to join in the event. Sean visited various locations in Shetland for a series of Tea Parties, bringing biscuits from event supporter, Tunnocks, and a representative from Loganair, the other event sponsor.

On a beautiful sunny day, Commercial Street was closed to traffic as stalls were set up for an impressive display of  home baked goods from staff in many of the local businesses. Picnic tables were in place and the public came along to enjoy a great couple of hours of eating cake, drinking tea and event dancing a boston two step with the band.

The event was filmed for a special programme which will be broadcast on STV later this year. It was an extra special day for me, as it was my birthday and I had over 150 guests attend my very own street party birthday party!

A fantastic sum of £558.58 was raised for the cause over the two hour event.
