Planning for the Tall Ships Races 2023 visit to Lerwick, led by Realta Events Management owner, Emma Miller, is moving forward with the ongoing announcement of sponsors and main headline music performers.
Today sees the announcement of the Friday night headline act - Stornoway sensations, Peat & Diesel. This follows the announcement a few weeks ago that fellow Scottish islanders, Tide Lines will also feature as a headliner on the Thursday evening when the fleet visits the town.
With the recent confirmation that NorthLink Ferries are sponsoring the event as official transport providers, plans are progressing well towards the largest event to take place in Shetland for over a decade.
A focus on using local firms for provision of goods and services continues, with many caterers and retail businesses signing up to take part.
Over 50 ships liaison officers have been recruited and training is already underway with the team ahead of them being ready to welcome the fleet to Lerwick in advance of their arrival on 26th July.
